Jim Mazurkiewicz and his wife Kathy travelled with two of their children and 42 other Polish Texans for a 12 day heritage tour of Poland.  The trip included visits to Poznan, Gniezno, Torun, Lowicz, Czestochowa, Zakopane, Krakow and Auschwitz  The primary purpose of their trip, however, was to re-new their marriage vows in the church of their great grandparents, sw. Katarzyna in Weglewo near Gniezno.  They wore Wielkopolska folk costumes and guests were dressed in white blouses or shirts with a red necklace or red ribbon bow tie.  Forty-six Polish Texans and 100 Polish friends and dignitaries attended the wedding. The ceremony was conducted à la 1885 with all the traditions and customs if the time, including horses and wagons, a Polish band, 20 folk dancers in Wielkopolska costumes, dinner, drinks, and a wooden dance floor.

In a Polish wedding, there are only two people that serve as witnesses and the bride and groom walk into the church together because the parents have already given them away that morning in the home with a formal blessing by the parents.
